FACILITATED FUTURES WORKSHOP · LAKE NONA, FL

America turns 250. What's the future for business in our communities?

Beyond 250 convenes veteran-led businesses, the people and institutions around them, to rehearse the future of their local economies and decide what to do about it. We're starting in Central Florida, with a model built to scale nationally.

The moment

A semiquincentennial is a rare hinge.

In 2026 the United States marks its 250th year, a moment when a nation looks back and forward at once. Beyond 250 turns that civic energy toward a foundational, unglamorous question: What happens to the businesses that hold our communities together, and who is choosing their future?

The method

Frame, then ideate, then refine.

The structure is proven, adapted from a repeatable futures-workshop playbook. We're scoping it as an in-person, three-day series, one phase per day, and we'll adjust as feedback comes in. Each phase has a job, and we don't let them bleed together.

Phase 01

Frame

Establish the goal, build shared context, form the deliberately mixed teams, and surface the real questions worth working on.

Phase 02

Ideate

Open the problem space wide. Map what people quietly know, generate together, then develop the strongest ideas in detail.

Phase 03

Refine

Push past the appealing surface into how an idea would actually work. Prioritize, then present to a real audience.

Deliberately mixed teams A hard, specific future Blended facilitation methods Templates that force concrete thinking A real audience at the end Outcomes defined up front

Who's in the room

Everyone in the room has a goal.

Veteran-led businesses anchor the room. Around them we bring the people and institutions who shape a local economy, plus capable participants who'll read the future differently. The pilot is open beyond veterans; veterans set its direction.

Partners & affiliations (prospective)

Partners and affiliations: FAVOB, UCF Business Incubation Program, America 250, Camaraderie Foundation, Concerned Veterans for America, Veterans Entrepreneurship Initiative, and Lake Nona Regional Chamber

Who takes a seat

Veteran business owners, at the core Local business leaders & operators Community & civic partners Capable experts & technologists

This is a working list. Part of the work ahead is confirming who belongs in the room.

Why it matters

The future of a place runs through its businesses.

When a veteran-led business gets sharper about what's coming, the families, workers, and neighbors connected to it feel it too.

1A veteran-led business pressure-tests a real scenario (a supply shock, an AI tool reshaping its trade, a founder's exit) alongside its neighbors.
2Better decisions and new working relationships make the local economy harder to knock over.
3Enough communities like that, and the national economy is stronger from the ground up.

The civic frame

Convening for the future of your community is a form of service. We treat it that way.

The exchange

What a sponsor brings,
and what they get.

Sponsors bring

The community and the room

  • A business community worth convening, veteran-led at its heart.
  • A venue and the standing to gather the right people.
  • A genuine willingness to be surprised by what the room produces.

We bring

The design and the facilitation

  • A workshop designed end-to-end around your community's future.
  • Expert facilitation across all three phases.
  • A defined outcome the room owns, plus a path to what comes next.
